The Bird Nest: A Gold Ring Symbolizing Sacrifice and Devotion

The Bird Nest ring is not just a piece of jewelry, but a symbol of the tireless hard work and sacrifice that goes into building a home. Mortazavi's inspiration came from observing birds, particularly females, who painstakingly construct nests for their families. The ring is a tribute to these unsung heroes of the animal kingdom, encapsulating their spirit in a wearable piece of art.

What sets the Bird Nest ring apart from other designs is its unique inspiration and the story it tells. The ring is a visual representation of a bird's nest, symbolizing the hard work and self-devotion of birds. The design is an innovative blend of nature and art, bringing the beauty of the natural world into the realm of jewelry.

Mortazavi utilized the Electro-fusion system, Direct casting, or Lost wax casting system to bring his vision to life. The ring can be produced in one or two separate parts, offering flexibility in its creation. The final product is a rose gold ring with dimensions of 26 mm in height, 25 mm in width, and 24 mm in length.

The design process was not without its challenges. The biggest hurdle was designing a ring that resembled a fabric or knot-shaped pipes that could be produced with 3D printers without issue. This was achieved after extensive work on the CAD/CAM process and 3D Geometry file, resulting in a design that is as technically impressive as it is aesthetically pleasing.

The Bird Nest ring was designed in June 2011 and underwent redesigning and editing in September 2012. The entire process took over 40 working hours. The design was awarded the Golden A' Jewelry, Eyewear and Watch Design Award in 2013, a testament to its outstanding creativity and design excellence.
